Reciprocal Equine Service and Training (R.E.S.T) is a non-profit 501c3 horse rescue. R.E.S.T. features unique programs for equine placement as well as physical/behavioral rehabilitation. Founded in 2006 by Amy Burrell-Cormier with the support of Emilie Beaupré DVM, R.E.S.T. was created to provide second careers for troubled sport horses. Founder/ Director, rider and trainer Amy Burrell-Cormier encompasses her 27+ years in classical dressage and hunter/jumpers by offering a sound ethical alternative for some of the many unwanted performance horses in the United States. With the support of equine professionals from every facet of the horse community, we strive to enhance the equine human connection by providing healthful and humane solutions for horse related problems. These solutions ultimately create a special environment for equine and human learning in Vermont and New England. As you can tell already, R.E.S.T., is a very different kind of rescue.

Located in the picturesque hills of Jericho Vermont, R.E.S.T. has created a tranquil and supportive environment for a special few horses yearly. These horses tend to come to R.E.S.T because they are struggling within their job, having behavioral issues, are in need of placement in a "right fit" home, or are recovering from a non-performance ending injury. We are an organization built on the foundation of individuality and love for all horses. Still, while we might love every horse, we recognize that we can not save every horse. Thus, it has always been very clear, that R.E.S.T. can only successfully rescue and rehabilitate a few horses a year. It is this quality verses quantity principal that allows us to provide each horse with its’ best possible opportunity to find a well matched, loving and permanent home. This opens the doors to a rewarding long term relationship for both the horse and the owner. R.E.S.T. strongly hopes to create more committed horse and rider teams by offering rehabilitated horses to supportive and qualified individuals.
